Feed BC partnerships showcased on the international stage
Feed BC is delighted to have participated in a panel presentation during the UN Food System Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment, where the spotlight shone on the local food leaders of British Columbia.
Conducted on July 26th, the panel was orchestrated by Sid Mehta, Senior Director of Ancillary Services at SFU, in collaboration with Kevin Booth, Executive Vice President of Chartwells Canada (SFU’s on-campus food service provider). The distinguished panel also featured Chef Stephanie Baryluk, Aart Schuurman Hess, CEO of Goodly Foods, and Elietha Bocskei, representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Feed BC.
At the core of the discussion was SFU’s commendable local food leadership and its strategic partnership with Chartwells Canada (Compass Group). Their joint efforts have birthed a local food sourcing model, with an ambitious objective of procuring 50 percent of SFU’s food services from within British Columbia. The conversation further highlighted SFU’s Indigenous Culinary Innovators and the remarkable contribution of B.C. supplier, Goodly Foods, as living embodiments of these initiatives in action.
